Privacy

Scrollish is a way to learn a language from short videos. It keeps as little about you as it can. This page says what that is.

Without an account

Your language, level, liked videos and saved words are stored in your own browser (its local storage). They are not sent to Scrollish. Clearing the site's data in your browser removes them.

Signing in with Google

Signing in is optional. When you do, Google tells Scrollish your Google account id, your name, your email address and your profile picture. Scrollish keeps these, with the time you last signed in, and sets a cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 60 days. Scrollish never sees your Google password and asks Google for nothing else. Signing out ends the session on the server and removes the cookie.

Analytics

Scrollish uses Google Analytics to count visits and see how the app is used: the pages and videos opened, words tapped or saved, the kind of device and the country. Google's advertising features are turned off, and nothing that names you, such as your email address, is sent to it. Google Analytics sets its own cookies for this; blocking them in your browser does not stop the app from working.

Videos

Videos are YouTube Shorts played through YouTube's own player, so YouTube's privacy policy applies to them. The subtitles are analysed by Google's Gemini AI to explain words and phrases; nothing about you is part of that.

Where it is kept

The site runs on Google Cloud, which keeps the usual request logs. Accounts are stored in a database hosted by Neon. Scrollish does not sell your data, show ads or share your data with anyone else.

Deleting your account

To have your account and everything kept with it deleted, write to the support address shown on Google's sign-in screen for Scrollish.
